Buzzard Point, a peninsula in
Southwest DC, between the Anacostia River and the Washington Channel, is being
transformed from a primarily industrial area into a new mixed-use neighborhood
anchored by the future DC United Soccer Stadium. Eric Shaw, director of the DC
Office of Planning, conveys the future vision for the area as well as the
significant waterfront development currently underway. Its proximity to the
river brings vulnerability to sea level rise and flooding while offering
opportunities to design a new green and sustainable waterfront neighborhood.
