Reflections: Embracing the Culture and Community of our Schools
Transform DC is a project where DC public school high schoolers work collaboratively to create large scale mural panels that are brought together as a part of a city-wide culminating public installation. The murals are a part of the project-based learning Cornerstone curriculum for grades 9 through 12.
Taking inspiration from the Alice Street documentary shown at 2023 Architecture and Design Film Festival, students examined the past, present and future of their school buildings and their role in the surrounding communities. The murals will be installed on the West Lawn of the National Building Museum through September 2023, with a community day celebration taking place on May 18th.
Free. Drop-in program. No registration required.
