|
PLEASE NOTE: This tour is SOLD OUT. Designed by John Russell Pope as his first monumental commission, the Scottish Rite Temple was built in 1915 by Norcross Brothers and serves as the headquarters for Scottish Rite Freemasonry. Sean Graystone, owner’s representative for the conservation project currently under way at the House of the Temple, leads a tour of this historic building, which features a magnificent dome created by Rafael Guastavino, Jr. and carved-in-place sculptures by Adolph Weinman. This tour complements the exhibition Palaces for the People: Guastavino and America’s Great Public Spaces, on view at the National Building Museum. 2.0 LU HSW (AIA) Photo: Image courtesy of Scottish Rite Temple.
