Construction Watch Tour: 400 E Street/Hyatt Place Hotel

CWT_400E.jpg400 E Street in Southwest D.C., is a 170,000- square-foot, 12-story building located a quarter mile from two metro stations and adjacent to I-395. The District of Columbia awarded the development rights with the requirement for a new state of the art 18,000-square-foot fire station for Engine Company 13, which is designed to operate under a 214-key Hyatt Place Hotel with additional retail at the street level. The hotel has 5,500 square-feet of green roof space on the third floor and rooftop level, offering views of the Tidal Basin. Ingrid Marrone, senior associate with WDG Architecture, leads a tour of this complex mixed-use development, which also includes space for the headquarters of Kid Power DC, a local non-profit. The project is seeking LEED NC Silver Certification and is scheduled for completion later this year.
