Germane Barnes...at the Intersection of Storytelling, Architecture and Cultural Narrative

Date:
Thursday, November 10, 2022
Time:
6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Germane Barnes Pop Up PorchIn-person NBM Late Night Program

A griot is a keeper of stories. What happens when architecture becomes a griot? Germane Barnes, Principal and Founder of Studio Barnes, designs in a variety of mediums including film, exhibitions, large scale installations, and furniture to investigate the connection between architecture and identity. By telling stories that explore the ways Black people have defined themselves and their communities, Barnes challenges our interpretations of what defines and shapes cultural narrative. Grab a drink before hearing from Barnes and viewing his short film You Can Always Come Home. After the presentation, enjoy live music, drinks, and light bites.
