Hive, the Museum’s 2017 Summer Block Party installation, has
got our brains buzzing about bees. Compare the Hive installation to an actual
observation hive (buzzing with live bees!) and investigate the design evolution
of modern man-made beehives with Kayla Schwartz,
beekeeper at George Washington University Undergraduate Honeybee Research
Lab. Explore the challenges, as well as
some surprising advantages, of urban beekeeping and efforts to protect and
encourage native bees and pollinators.
Learn more about urban beekeeping and what you can do to help honey bees and native bees with Bees in the City, available in the Museum Shop, which will be open before the program.
