Susan Jones, founding principal of atelierjones, illustrates how architects choose materials to provoke emotional responses. The use of cross laminated timber (CLT) in her Bellevue First Congregational Church in Seattle showcases the expressive nature of timber, which conveys an inherent warmth and comfort, appropriate for a religious building.

This program is presented in connection with the exhibition Timber City, open from 5:30 – 6:30 pm that evening.
