Opportunity to Perform with Creative in Residence

Date:
Sunday, January 13, 2019
Time:
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Be part of the 2019 Creative in Residence program!

The Opportunity to Perform will take place regardless of weather conditions. Please plan accordingly, noting road closures and Metro changes and leaving enough time to get to the Museum. We will begin promptly at 1:00 pm.

Meet Heather and try out for a unique opportunity to be part of a community of co-creators and performers who will work with Heather to develop and present a new piece inspired by the Museum’s historic building. Heather is looking for people age 18 and up who are excited to collaborate, willing to experiment with movement, and open to new ideas. No dance skill level or experience is required, but participants should be able to move freely and easily.

Participants will be selected on this day for one of two groups, each with different requirements. All rehearsals and performances take place at the Museum.

Performers selected for the chorus must be able to attend 4 days of rehearsal on evenings and weekend days plus both performances:

Chorus Schedule

•    Wednesday, January 16, 6–9 pm
•    Saturday, January 19, 1–4 pm
•    Wednesday, January 23, 6–9 pm
•    Friday, January 25, 5–9 pm (dress rehearsal)
•    Saturday, January 26, 1:30–7 pm (for performances at 3:30–4:30 pm and 6–7 pm)

Performers selected for the core group must be able to attend 5 additional evenings of rehearsal:

•    Tuesday, January 22, 6–9 pm

Participants may be invited to take part in an interview to help us evaluate the experience.

Interested in a shorter commitment or different kind of opportunity? There will be three workshop opportunities to learn from Heather Sultz and engage in movement in our historic building. See calendar listings for Jan. 17, 19, and 21.
