The Photography of Colin Winterbottom |
Recognized for his dramatic and atmospheric studies of Washington, D.C. landmarks, fine art photographer Colin Winterbottom talks about 15 years of taking photos from atop scaffolding–including recent work at the Washington Monument and Washington National Cathedral–and striking a balance between fine art and documentary photography. He shares previously unseen images and discusses how photographs of preservation work deepen the symbolism of national land-marks. This program complements the exhibition Scaling Washington, which is open to attendees before the talk. 1.5 LU (AIA) $12 Members; $12 Students; $20 Non-members. Pre-registration required. Walk-in registration based on availability.
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Registration is for event planning purposes only and does not guarantee a seat. Online registration for Museum programs closes at midnight the day before the scheduled program. The Museum's award-winning Shop and Firehook Café are open for one hour prior to the start of the program. Shop and Café hours are subject to change. During post-earthquake inspections at the Washington National Cathedral, Emma Cardini, P.E., M.ASCE, records her assessments as she rappels down the central tower, 2011.
