Tour the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, Washington D.C.’s central library, currently undergoing major renovations and expected to reopen in fall of 2020. Richard Reyes-Gavilan, the library system’s executive director, and James Fennelly, vice president of development, Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners, highlight the rehabilitation and improvements, designed by Mecanoo and Martinez and Johnston, that include a new vibrant and transparent entryway; a sculptured monumental staircase; a large auditorium and conference center; and a rooftop terrace.
