Film - Just Imagine

The National Building Museum is proud to partner with the American Film Institute (AFI) Silver Theatre and Cultural Center to present a film series associated with the Musueum's exhibition Unbuilt Washington. Things to Come:The City Imagined on Film screens films that feature striking alternative visions of urban life. Just Imagine Songwriting team DeSylva, Brown and Henderson concocted this futuristic musical, set within a high-flying New York of 1980. The city is a wonderland of towering buildings, personal airplanes and rockets—yet people are only known by their serial numbers, in this goofball fantasy starring vaudeville comedian El Brendel. Production designer Stephen Goossen’s city of the future was created out of an enormous miniature set of art deco skyscrapers and multi-story bridges, large enough to fill an empty dirigible hanger on the outskirts of Hollywood. Ticket Information: The AFI Silver Theatre is located at 8633 Colesville Road in Silver Spring, Maryland, Silver Spring Metro, Red Line. Date:
