Patterns Here, There, and Everywhere Educator Workshop
National Building Museum

Patterns school programThere are patterns all around us, on our clothing, in our buildings, and in our neighborhoods. National Building Museum educators will model a series of activities to help students learn about the importance of patterns in the buildings and world around them. On a scavenger hunt of the Museum’s building identify shapes and patterns by examining the walls, floors, and ceiling of the Museum. After investigating the Museum building, create patterns out of a variety of craft materials. Finally create a group project that communicates the patterns that can be found in a neighborhood.

Participants will received resources for hands-on activities that they can use in their classrooms. Connections to the Common Core Early Learning Standards will be explicitly addressed.  Most appropriate for educators of children ages 3-5 years old.

Offered in partnership with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) Division of Early Learning. 2 Professional Learning Units.
