Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park

Begun in Washington, D.C. in 1990 as a partnership that harnessed the power of community to help cut crime in and around Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park by over 95%, Washington Parks & People has now helped revitalize over 200 green spaces across the capital, growing park-based community health,  equity, and vitality.  Steve Coleman, co-founder and president of Parks & People, will speak about the inspiring lessons learned from this effort and issue a call to action for the new Think Outside campaign. This talk is offered as part of Smart Growth programming.
