Telling the stories of the African American experience is done as much through the in-depth collection of the Smithsonian's forthcoming National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) as through its iconic building taking shape on the National Mall. NMAAHC curator Paul Gardullo, Ph.D., and architects David Adjaye, RIBA, and Philip Freelon, FAIA, LEED AP, discuss how artifacts and architecture combine to embody and represent the rich and diverse African American culture. The program is moderated by National Building Museum executive director Chase W. Rynd, Hon. ASLA, and complements the Association of Architecture Organizations conference Crafting the Story.
