Design Apprenticeship Program Final Presentation |
In the National Building Museum’s fall 2012 Design Apprenticeship Program (DAP), participants gathered each Saturday for seven weeks to focus on modular building blocks and how they are used in design and construction. Through a series of hands-on activities, they first learned the basics of design and explored various building blocks such as bricks, tiles, wood, tubing, and cinder blocks. Participants then divided into teams and designed and fabricated furniture that incorporated modular building blocks as a key design element. Design Apprenticeship Program is supported by The McGraw-Hill Companies, Prince Charitable Trusts, and Walton|CORE Construction. Additional support for outreach programs is provided by the The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation; Clark Charitable Foundation; The Max and Victoria Dreyfus Foundation, Inc.; Sunrise Foundation; and The Tower Companies, among others.
