Family Afternoon: The Winter Read-In

Experience the Great Hall transform into a reading space for kids, teens, and families during the National Building Museum and DC Public Library’s The Winter Read-In. Cozy up with a book under the decorative capitals of our Corinthian columns as we celebrate the kick-off the Library’s annual Winter Reading challenge*. 

Wear your comfiest clothes and bring blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals to settle in for a day celebrating a love of reading.

Read with your family and friends, read alone, or practice your reading with a PAL therapy dog

The Library's IdeasBox, a mobile "pop up" multimedia center and learning hub, will  feature fun and and games with technology. Throughout the event the following prizes will be raffled:

  • 2 National Building Museum Family Memberships
  • 1 Lego set for children ages 0-5
  • 3 pairs of Beats by Dre headphones for children ages 6-19
  • 3 Amazon Fire 7's for children ages 6-19
  • 1 pair of Beats by Dre Solo for children 6-19

*DC Public Library’s annual Winter Reading challenge starts Dec. 17, 2017 and ends on Jan 6, 2018. The Winter Reading challenge is open to kids and teens from birth to 19. Find more information at dclibrary.org/winterreading.
