The House at Lobster Cove: Book Talk and Signing

Date:
Wednesday, May 31, 2017
Time:
12:30 PM - 2:00 PM

house at lobster coveAuthor Jane Goodrich’s love of architecture propels her readers into her journey to rebuild Kragsyde, which was once considered an icon of American architecture. The book reveals discoveries she made while researching the life of Bostonian George Nixon Black, who commissioned the architectural firm Peabody & Stearns to design his home at Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts.

Goodrich takes you behind the doors to glimpse at the enigmatic life of a man who was a generous patron of the arts and lived a life which extended beyond the social norms of the day. Come hear about her experiences of both the past and present, the familiar and surprising, and the idea of what it meant to be at home in America through the life of George Nixon Black. A book signing will follow the talk.
