Washington, D.C., is one of the nation’s premier cities for arts and culture with a variety of venues and a robust professional class dedicated to the visual arts. However, few working artists are able to afford housing and studio space in the city, which deprives D.C. of a valuable spark for creativity and economic development. A panel of experts discusses the role of planners, architects, and policy makers to create live/work space for artists. Presented in partnership with Hamiltonian Artists.

Panelists include:

  • Jim Abdo, president and CEO, Abdo Development
  • Travis Bowerman, Interim Executive Director, Cultural DC
  • Kimberly Driggins, Associate Director, Citywide Planning, D.C. Office of Planning
  • Maggie Michael, artist
  • Rebecca Sheir, host of WAMU 88.5's Metro Connection (moderator)
