Canstruction
Great Hall, National Building Museum

Twenty-four teams from architecture and design firms from Washington, D.C. use their skills to build sculptures out of cans of food. This year's transportation-themed sculptures will include a full-scale smart car, the CAN-nook Chopper to the Rescue, a Lunar module, the Mayflower bean soup ship, the Scooby-Doo mean, green Mystery Machine, and many more. You can vote for your favorite sculpture by bringing canned goods when you come to view the sculptures in the “ballot box” in front of each. After the cans are counted, the highly coveted People’s Choice Award will be given during the de-canstruction on November 30.

CanstructionDC 2015 begins with the Build-Out on Sunday, November 22, where 24 teams have six hours to construct their imaginative sculptures, and ends on Monday, November 30, with the Awards announcements and dismantle of the projects.

*Note: the National Building Museum is closed on Thanksgiving, 11/26

Special Offer: Visitors who bring canned goods on 11/28 receive $1 off Museum exhibition admission, part of the Museum's 35th Anniversary "35 Days of Giving" campaign.

Canstruction is presented by the Washington Architectural Foundation. Learn more about the event here.
