Tania El Khoury, an artist working between London and Beirut, discusses her body of work that challenges existing power dynamics, the politics of space and her views on the role of the arts as a conduit to addressing change, raising awareness, and provoking conversations, or as a response to violence as in her latest interactive installation Gardens Speak.  She will show excerpts from her catalog.

Moderated by Honey Al Sayed, an award-winning Syrian journalist based in D.C., the conversation explores the artist’s immersive and interactive experience intent on involving the audience as collaborators, and her take on the role of the arts in the time of Arab uprisings. 

Gardens Speak and the accompanying programs are organized by the Middle East Institute in collaboration with the National Building Museum, with a generous grant from the British Council.

This program is FREE and open to the public. Pre-registration required. There is a limit of two tickets per registrant. Walk-in registration based on availability.
