This July, the National Building Museum offers Architecture 101, a lecture series that provides a broader understanding of architectural “styles.” These programs explore significant periods in architectural history, serving as a refresher course for the professional or student, or providing the novice with a chance to learn more about the world of architecture. The lectures explore the  physical characteristics of each movement and how each reflects the culture, politics, and technical innovations of its time.

This summer, the series defines Art Nouveau architecture (July 13th), explores Miesian architecture (July 20th), and gets artistic with Expressionism in architecture (July 27th).

UPDATE: THE ART NOUVEAU LECTURE ON JULY 13 IS CANCELED AND WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR A FUTURE DATE.
