Exhibition Tour Team-Up: Shaping Neighborhoods through Community Engagement

Tour three exhibitions at two museums in one afternoon. In a guided tour of A Right to the City at the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum, gain insights into how ordinary Washingtonians have shaped and reshaped their neighborhoods through organizing and civic engagement, often in the face of deepening inequality. At the National Building Museum, discover the role citizens played in the history of Washington D.C.'s experiment in community policing following Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination on a guided tour of Community Policing in the Nation's Capital, The Pilot District Project, 1968–1973. Looking beyond D.C., examine the causes and impacts of America’s eviction crisis, as well as actions taken by a range of solution-oriented organizations and individuals, in the Evicted exhibition. Free round trip transportation provided to and from the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum.

Free round trip transportation will be provided to and from the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum.  Itinerary as follows:
1–2 pm: tour of A Right to the City at the Anacostia Community Museum
2:15 pm: bus departs Anacostia Community Museum to National Building Museum
3–4 pm: tour of Community Policing in the Nation’s Capital and Evicted
4:15 pm: bus departs National Building Museum and returns to Anacostia Community Museum
