Homeschool Day

The National Building Museum invites individual families to register for the Museum’s first Homeschool Day of the 2012-2013 school year on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. For a description of the  programs offered on November 14, click on a program name below.

You must register for each program separately. Pre-registration is required by the end of the day on Monday, November 12. You are welcome to register for a morning program and an afternoon program. If you have any questions about the event, please read the Homeschool Day FAQ or contact the Museum at 202.272.2448 or at youthgroups@nbm.org.

If the program you're interested in is sold out, consider gathering a group of homeschool students and registering for a group program.

November 14 Program Schedule

Walk-in tickets are available for some programs please specific information below.

Morning Programs
10:00-12:00
City by Design, 7-9 year olds 5 walk-in spots available 
Be a Green Builder, 10-14 year olds SOLD OUT 
10:30-12:00        
My House, My Home, 4-6 year olds SOLD OUT
Drawing on History Tour, 8-10 year olds 4 walk-in spots available

Afternoon Programs
1:00-2:30
Frieze Stories, 5-7 year olds SOLD OUT 
Engineering Egg Drop, 8-10 year olds SOLD OUT 
1:00-3:00
Washington: Symbol and City, 8-10 year olds 10 walk-in spots available 
Design your Dream House, 10-14 year olds SOLD OUT 
Fuller’s Fantastic Geodesic Dome, 10-14 year olds 13 walk-in spots available 

Cost

Programs
Each $10 ticket covers one child’s participation in one homeschool program. There is no cost for adults to chaperone the homeschool programs. This program ticket does not include admission to the Museum’s exhibitions.

Exhibitions
If families would like to visit the Museum’s exhibitions before or after the Homeschool Day programs, discounted exhibition tickets may be purchased online during pre-registration or on the day of your visit. The cost is $3 per participating student and $5 per adult and/or tag-a-long sibling.
