Construction Watch Tour: Dunbar High School

Dunbar rendering
Dunbar rendering courtesy Perkins Eastman/Moody Nolan.

In 1977, the original Dunbar High School building, constructed in 1917, was replaced with a brutalist-style structure. Now a new school building is under construction, featuring a 485 kW photovoltaic array, geothermal heating/cooling, pervasive daylighting, and cisterns for recycling rainwater. Sean O’Donnell, principal with Perkins Eastman, leads a tour of this 280,000-square-foot project, which is seeking LEED® for Schools Platinum certification. 2.0 LU HSW (AIA) / 2.0 CE (GBCI)
