Teacher Workshop: Designing for Disaster

FREE for teachers (not including the Designing for Disaster Teaching Kit). Learn to incorporate resilient building techniques and basic city planning concepts into classroom teaching at this educator workshop. Examine the effects of natural disasters on the built environment and learn how building professionals, homeowners, and planners use design to mitigate damages. Museum staff will model lesson plans, demonstrate teaching tools, and explore materials from Designing for Disaster, the National Building Museum’s newest classroom-ready teaching kit. For teachers participating in this workshop, the Museum is offering the Designing for Disaster Teaching Kit for $50 (retail $150). Teachers much purchase the Kit at the time of registration, in advance of the workshop. Same day sales are not available, unfortunately.
