Climate ABC: Raising the Green Bar

Date:
Monday, March 28, 2022
Time:
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

DPR Sacramento OfficeLearn how industry and government can partner to achieve sustainable construction and achieve positive climate action for the community, as demonstrated in DPR’s “living laboratories” - where they implement and test wellness and sustainability technologies and ideas that carry over into client projects. Marshall Andrews, project manager, DPR Construction; Ryan Poole, global sustainability leader, DPR Construction; and Stet Sanborn, AIA, principal, SmithGroup, discuss how working with local governments can lead to positive outcomes that address climate change, as demonstrated in DPR Construction’s Sacramento office. The program is moderated by architect Susan Piedmont-Palladino, director of Virginia Tech’s Washington Alexandria Architecture Center.

Climate ABC (Action/Building/Community) focuses on three essential aspects to addressing climate change: Actions by individuals, businesses, non-profits, policy makers, and civic entities; Building -- examples of both physical structures and landscapes, as well as coalitions of stakeholders; and Communities at every scale that are working to slow climate change.

Image: DPR Sacramento recently completed renovations on their new home in midtown Sacramento. This unique building is truly sustainable and is designed for LEED Platinum and WELL Building certifications, as well as being Net Positive Energy. The building is also the first in Sacramento to use cross-laminated timber (CLT). The vision for the project was to create a building that takes care of both the environment and the occupant.
