*This tour is sold out*
Can a retail store be a work of public art? The Museum’s Kress Collection presents a record of nearly a century of building activity for the Kress 5-10-25 cent stores, variety stores built in elaborate Gothic Revival and streamlined Art Deco styles, and designed to be integral parts of their surrounding business districts. Take a behind-the-scenes tour with Museum staff of this exciting collection, which consists of 6,000 architectural plans, 7,000 photographs, and 50 linear feet of documents. Each tour attendee will receive a free guide book to the National Building Museum’s collection of the Kress building records.
