Careers in Construction EXPO 2008

Did you know that the construction industry is the largest employer in the country?

Our nation needs more than 240,000 new skilled craftspeople each year just to keep up with this demand! Geared towards secondary-school students, this free program is a great chance for students and educators to learn first-hand about the numerous career opportunities in this industry. Students and teachers alike will have the chance to meet professionals from various trades to discover why construction careers are so rewarding.

There will also be hands on demonstrations and activities, including:
Bricklaying; Concrete Finishing; Carpentry; Nail-Driving Contest; Electrical Wiring; Power Tools; Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD); Drywall Finishing; Painting; Landscaping; Heavy Equipment; and more!

Representatives from community colleges, universities, architecture schools, and training programs will also be available to discuss a range of training options and degree-granting programs.

Students will also have the chance to hear and learn from professionals representing the design, development, construction, and project management facets of this dynamic industry during panel discussions about design and construction overview throughout the day.

This event is FREE, but you must pre-register your school group.  Registration for individuals and families is not required.  If you have questions please contact chawkins@nbm.org.
