Featured Designer: Adam Reed Tucker
Adam Reed Tucker works in collaboration with The LEGO® Group to design and distribute the LEGO® Architecture line. Throughout his professional career, he has developed programs to bring a greater understanding and appreciation of architecture, engineering, and design to the public and to promote the idea of the brick as a medium and not just as a traditional toy.
In 1996, Adam received a professional degree in architecture with an emphasis on philosophy and design theory at Kansas State University. He went on to practice as an architect in Kansas City and the Chicago area for ten years. It was during this period that he formed the idea for ARTitecture™ (now known as Brickstructures, Inc.), a LEGO®-based educational platform emphasizing the studies of architecture, engineering, and construction, which was formally created in 2005. Through Brickstructures, Adam has participated in several programs including founding Brickworld, an annual LEGO® convention in Chicago, and the development of the LEGO® Architecture line.
As a result of his work with the LEGO® brick, Adam became a LEGO® Certified Professional (LCP) in 2008. As a LCP, Adam's primary aims are designing and constructing skyscrapers and other architectural structures, and interacting with the public via events and school programs. Through this work he has introduced LEGO® Architecture concepts into the classroom where students learn firsthand the usefulness of the LEGO® brick as a design medium.
